DURHAM, N.C. – Fifth-ranked Duke (14-6, 3-3 ACC) will meet 16th-ranked New Hampshire for the first time since 2009 Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11:30 a.m. in the first round of the NCAA Championship in Durham, N.C. The Blue Devils earned the No. 4 seed in the tournament and were named one of four regional host sites for first and second round action. Virginia and Massachusetts were also selected to the Durham regional and will square off Saturday at 2 p.m. at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium.

All session passes are $7 for adults and $4 for youth/seniors while Duke students get in free. There will also be free breakfast for the first 50 Duke students for Saturday morning's game. Call 919-681-BLUE for more information.

All first and second round contests in Durham will be streamed free of charge on Blue Devil Network.

New Hampshire Series History
Saturday’s NCAA first round contest marks just the fifth all-time meeting between Duke and New Hampshire with the Blue Devils holding a 3-1 edge in the series ... The two schools last faced off in 2009 with Duke claiming a 7-1 victory in Durham ... The Blue Devils have never faced New Hampshire in the postseason.

Last Time We Met
Former Blue Devil Amie Survilla tallied four goals and teammate Susan Ferger added three as Duke topped New Hampshire by a 7-1 score Sept. 27, 2009 in Durham ... The Blue Devils outshot the Wildcats 30-8 and held a 10-3 advantage in penalty corners.

Scouting the Wildcats
Sixteenth-ranked New Hampshire (15-6) earned automatic qualification to the NCAA Championship field after claiming the America East Championship ... The Wildcats topped Fairfield 4-0 in their conference semifinal and earned a 3-2 victory over Albany in the title game ... New Hampshire will be making its 10th appearance in the NCAA Tournament with the last appearance coming in 2011 ... Led by head coach Robin Balducci and the America East Coaching Staff of the Year, the team enters the tournament on an eight-game win streak ... Two-time America East Defensive Player of the Year Megan Bozek was named the Most Outstanding Player at the America East Championship ... Meg Flatley paces the offense with 37 points (16g, 5a) and is tied for 25th in the nation at 0.76 goals per game ... In goal, Carlie Tarbell owns a 1.66 goals against average and a .758 save percentage.

Scouting the Blue Devils
Fifth-ranked and fourth-seeded Duke (14-6, 3-3 ACC) rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit but fell to top-ranked Maryland in overtime, 3-2, in the semifinals of the ACC Championship Nov. 8 in Newton, Mass. ... The squad moved up to a season-best No. 5 ranking in the NFHCA poll and was selected to host NCAA Tournament regional play for the first time since 2006 ... Senior Emmie Le Marchand paces the squad in points (34), goals (12) and assists (10) ... A senior from Worcester, England, Le Marchand ranks 37th nationally in points per game and is tied for 48th in goals per game entering the NCAA Championship ... Senior Paula Heimbach, a two-time All-ACC selection, has anchored the Blue Devils’ back line to four shutouts this fall ... In goal, redshirt sophomore Lauren Blazing has had a breakout season, totaling 120 saves in 20 outings ... A product of Durham, N.C., she ranks seventh nationally in save percentage with a .795 clip ... Blazing posted a career-best 22 saves in a 3-2 overtime shootout victory over previously unbeaten and top-ranked North Carolina Sept. 27 to earn ACC Player of the Week recognition.

Last Time Out
Facing a 2-0 deficit at halftime, the Blue Devils rallied to tie the score with 3:17 remaining but went on to fall 3-2 in overtime to top-ranked Maryland Nov. 8 in the ACC Championship semifinals in Newton, Mass. ... The Blue Devils cut Maryland’s lead in half with 16:05 remaining on a shot from the post by junior Abby Beltrani with senior Grace Christus assisting ... Sophomore Hannah Barreca knocked in the equalizer on a penalty corner hit with just over three minutes left on the clock ... The Terrapins’ Maxine Fluharty tallied the gamewinner less than four minutes into extra time ... Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Blazing finished with 12 saves in the loss.

Duke in the NCAA Championship
The Blue Devils own an all-time record of 15-11 in the NCAA Tournament while making three trips to the national championship match (2003, 2004, 2005) ... Duke is 8-3 all-time in first round contests ... The 2011 NCAA Championship saw the squad advance to the quarterfinals before falling to Old Dominion, 2-1 ... The Blue Devils last hosted NCAA preliminary round action in 2006, defeating James Madison 3-2 in the first round and topping Ohio State in the quarterfinals, 3-0, in Durham. 

Four Blue Devils Tabbed All-ACC
Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Blazing, senior defender Paula Heimbach, sophomore midfielder Aileen Johnson and senior forward Emmie Le Marchand were all named to the league’s second team Nov. 6 ... Le Marchand received the third honor of her career and Heimbach earned her second accolade while Blazing and Johnson garnered All-ACC recognition for the first time in their respective careers ... Blazing and Le Marchand were also selected to the ACC All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the conference tournament.

Scheduling the Best
Duke’s 2013 slate currently features 11 teams ranked in the top 20 of the final IWLCA Coaches Poll ... The squad topped previously unbeaten and top-ranked North Caroliana, 3-2, in a thrilling overtime shootout Sept. 27 in Chapel Hill ... The Blue Devils also notched wins against No. 4 Virginia (Nov. 7), No. 7 Boston College (Oct. 26), No. 13 Stanford (Oct. 20) and No. 14 Wake Forest (Oct. 6).

Le Marchand Moving Up Career Charts
After topping the 100-point mark for her career earlier this season, senior forward Emmie Le Marchand continues to etch her name into the program record books … With 125 points for her career, the Worcester, England product currently sits eighth overall in school history … Le Marchand is also tied for seventh all-time in career goals (50) and tied for 15th in career assists (25).

Blazing Among Nation’s Top Goalkeepers
Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper and Durham, N.C., product Lauren Blazing ranks second in the ACC and is seventh among all Division I goalkeepers in save percentage with an .795 clip through 20 games … She has compiled a 1.47 goals against average in addition to guiding the defense to four shutouts … The Durham, N.C., native was named the ACC Player of the Week following a career-high 22-save performance in a 3-2 shootout win over previously top-ranked and unbeaten North Carolina Sept. 27.
