DURHAM, N.C. – Following a recent training camp weekend in Durham and Chapel Hill, N.C., the coaching staffs for the United States U17, U19 and U21 women’s national teams announced Monday the rosters for upcoming international tours. Four Blue Devils were selected to travel with the U.S. U19 squad to Germany April 12-18.
Blue Devil freshmen Haley Schleicher and Jillian Wolgemuth were named to the U.S. U19 Germany tour roster along with Duke signees Lexi Davidson and Lily Posternak. Wolgemuth, Davidson and Posternak were also tabbed to the 2017 U.S. U19 Junior National Squad in early January.
The U.S. U19 squad will head to Germany in April for a series of test matches against Germany’s Junior National Team.
Schleicher, who hails from Virginia Beach, Va., took the field in all 20 contests for the Blue Devils during the fall. The midfielder helped Duke capture its first ACC regular season title and reach No. 1 in the national poll for the first time in program history.
A back from Mount Joy, Pa., Wolgemuth appeared in 14 games for the Blue Devils in her rookie season, earning nine starts on the back line. She notched a defensive save in an ACC regular season win over Virginia and was part of a defensive unit that ranked top 12 nationally in goals against average (1.48).
A product of North Andover, Mass., Davidson was a Harrow Sports/National Field Hockey Coaches Association High School All-American in 2015 after totaling 27 goals during her junior season. She has previously been a member of the U.S. U17 Junior National Team and the U19 National Indoor squad.
A native of York, Maine, Posternak guided York to three consecutive undefeated seasons while establishing school career records in goals (88) and assists (57). She provided the game winner that gave York its third straight Class B state championship this past fall to earn Maine Sunday Telegram Player of the Year honors for the third consecutive season.
