DURHAM, N.C. – Senior midfielder Robin Blazing was selected to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District III Women's At-Large Team, as announced by the organization Thursday.
A biology and Spanish double major, Blazing was one of 11 female student-athletes named to the NCAA Division I All-District III team, joining fellow Blue Devil Leona Maguire of the women's golf team.
Earlier this spring, Blazing garnered National Field Hockey Coaches Association Scholar of Distinction recognition for the third time in her career. She also earned her second selection to the All-ACC Academic Team and was chosen for an ACC Postgraduate Scholarship. In addition, Blazing is a four-year member of the NFHCA National Academic Squad.
Blazing guided the Duke field hockey team to two NCAA semifinals appearances during her career and the program's first ACC regular season title in 2016. She totaled nine goals and seven assists in 72 career contests, starting her junior and senior seasons in the midfield and at forward.
The Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
First team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
