DURHAM, N.C. – Duke field hockey head coach Pam Bustin and the Blue Devil program are set to welcome five freshmen to Durham for the 2017 campaign. Midfielder/back Lexi Davidson will join the Blue Devils from North Andover, Mass.

Prior to Duke: A product of North Andover, Mass., Davidson was a Harrow Sports/National Field Hockey Coaches Association High School All-American in 2015 after totaling 27 goals during her junior season. She went on to receive Pottstown Mercury first team recognition as a senior at The Hill School. A current member of the U.S. U19 junior national team, Davidson has also competed with the U.S. U17s and the U.S. U19 national indoor team.
Bustin's Take: “Lexi is a smart, skillful player. She knows the game and the skills necessary to prevail. Her game is ready for the Division I/ACC challenge and I believe we will see a great growth in Lexi's play."
What is your best field hockey memory?
LD: Winning MAPLs (our league) this year and coming from behind being down 3-1.
When did you start playing field hockey?
LD: Sixth grade. I played like it was literally ice hockey on a field, and I got lots of fouls and used the wrong side of my stick.
Who has had the largest impact on your life?
LD: My mom because she has always taught me to strive to be better, no matter what.
Why did you choose Duke?
LD: I loved how Duke expected excellence not only in the classroom, but on the field. I thought that this environment would help push me outside my comfort zone in all aspects of my life.
What are your goals for your collegiate career?
LD: Win a national championship.

Hobbies: Shopping, going to the beach, spending time with my friends, exploring, hanging with my dog

If you were to play another sport, what would it be? Ice hockey because I started playing when I was three and I have always loved skating

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Working in sports with elite athletes
