LONDON – Blue Devil rising junior Margaux Paolino scored for the United States in the squad’s Vitality Hockey Women’s World Cup opener Saturday.

Team USA opened its World Cup run with a 3-1 loss to Ireland, listed 16th in the International Hockey Federation Hero World Rankings.

Paolino finished on a U.S. penalty corner opportunity in the 15th minute, providing the last touch into the cage on a set piece. Her tally cut into a 2-0 Irish lead.

The U.S. squad continues pool play Wednesday with a 3 p.m. ET contest against host nation England at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre. Live video will be available here ($).
