DURHAM, N.C. – After leading the Blue Devils with three goals at the B1G/ACC Cup, freshman forward Olivia Sahaydak earned ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors, as announced by the league Tuesday.
Sahaydak is the second Blue Devil to garner ACC Player of the Week recognition this season following an ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Week nod for junior back Jillian Wolgemuth last week.
A rookie from Bethlehem, Pa., Sahaydak turned in the first multiple-goal game of her career in Friday’s 4-0 shutout of then-12th ranked Northwestern. She found the back of the cage twice and added another tally Sunday against fourth-ranked Maryland to wrap up the B1G/ACC Cup with the most goals of any freshman at the four-team tournament.
Sahaydak paces the Blue Devils with four goals on the season.
Duke, ranked fourth in this week’s Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll, is back on the road this weekend, visiting No. 6 Princeton Friday before facing No. 5 Penn State Sunday in Philadelphia.
