DURHAM, N.C. – Senior forward Rose Tynan garnered ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week laurels Tuesday following a seven-point performance in a pair of contests against top-six opponents.
Tuesday’s release by the conference office marked the third consecutive week in which a Blue Devil has received weekly league honors.
Tynan racked up three goals in contests against No. 5 Penn State and No. 6 Princeton to enter the week leading the team with six on the year. The Auckland, New Zealand native tallied a goal and an assist Friday in a one-goal loss to the Tigers. Tynan went on to match her career high with two goals in Sunday’s 4-1 defeat of the Nittany Lions. In that contest, she evened the match at 1-1 in the 25th minute and later sealed the victory with a score in the final minute of regulation.
Tynan has now scored in four of Duke’s six matches on the season. She ranks second in the ACC in points per game (2.50) and is tied for second in the conference in goals per game (1.00).
The fourth-ranked Blue Devils open ACC play Friday at 12th-ranked Syracuse, facing the Orange at 4 p.m. on ACC Network Extra. Sunday’s home contest against Saint Joseph’s has been postponed due to potential inclement weather from Hurricane Florence.
