DURHAM, N.C. – Senior forward Rose Tynan earned weekly accolades from the ACC for the second time this season Tuesday, receiving a nod as the conference’s Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
A vice captain from Auckland, New Zealand, Tynan notched the game-winning goal in two Duke victories over the weekend. She had the lone tally in Friday’s 1-0 shutout of No. 18 Virginia at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium, finishing on an assist from junior Margaux Paolino 57 seconds into the second half. On Sunday, Tynan put the Blue Devils ahead for good with a goal in the 37th minute at No. 22 Old Dominion. She added a second score on a hard shot off a corner opportunity in the 5-1 win over the Monarchs.
Tynan’s performances helped Duke improve to 11-3 overall and 3-1 in ACC action.
She leads the Blue Devils in goals (12) and points (29) after surpassing the 40-goal mark for her career during Sunday’s contest at Old Dominion. This week, Tynan ranks second in the conference in points per game (2.07) and third in goals per game (0.86) while coming in among the top 16 players nationally in both statistical categories.
Duke hits the road again this weekend, traveling to Louisville, Ky., for a 6 p.m. contest Friday against the Cardinals. The ACC matchup will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
