CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Senior forward Caroline Andretta and junior midfielder Margaux Paolino have been named to the 2018 ACC Field Hockey All-Tournament Team, as announced by the conference following Sunday’s championship match.
Andretta found the back of the cage in both of the Blue Devils’ contests at the ACC Championship, extending her scoring streak to four consecutive games. In a 4-1 defeat of Syracuse in Thursday’s quarterfinals, the New Vernon, N.J., native got Duke on the board in the fifth minute and later added an assist on the squad’s final tally. Her performance helped propel the Blue Devils to the tournament semifinals for the third straight season. In Friday’s semifinal matchup with Wake Forest, Andretta matched her career high with two tallies, giving her 14 on the season.
Paolino earned ACC All-Tournament Team honors for the third straight year, contributing to an attack that registered seven goals in two contests. Her steady play in the midfield helped Duke control possession for much of the game against the Orange, resulting in a 20-9 shot differential in the Blue Devils’ favor. Paolino played significant minutes again Friday in the loss to the Deacons as Duke rallied from a second-half deficit to tie the contest before ultimately falling by a 4-3 score.
The third-ranked Blue Devils (15-5) find out their NCAA Tournament fate Sunday at 10 p.m. during the selection show, which will be streamed on NCAA.com.
