DURHAM, N.C. – Junior forward Rose Tynan was selected the Duke Student-Athlete of the Week Wednesday after totaling seven points to guide the second-ranked Duke field hockey team to wins over a pair of ranked opponents over the weekend.

Tynan started off the scoring in both contests, finding the back of the boards just four minutes into Friday night’s lengthy affair at No. 9 Boston College. She notched a critical goal in the second round of the overtime shootout, giving the Blue Devils a 1-0 advantage. Duke would go on to win the shootout, 3-2, to earn the victory.

The Auckland, New Zealand native led a high-powered attack Sunday at No. 22 Boston University, striking home the game’s first goal on an Ashley Kristen assist 5:36 in. Tynan would go on to feed Kristen on the Blue Devils’ fourth goal, and added one more of her own in the 65th minute, matching her career-best performance with five points on the afternoon.

Tynan’s nine goals lead all Duke players while her three assists are tied for first on the team. In addition, she ranks among the top three players in the ACC in goals per game (0.90) and points per game (2.10).

Tynan also garnered honorable mention recognition Wednesday for the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's Division I Weekly Award for the top offensive and defensive players in the country.

Tynan and the Blue Devils return to Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium this weekend, hosting No. 9 Syracuse Saturday at 12 p.m. and No. 22 Iowa Sunday at 12 p.m. Both contests will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
