DURHAM, N.C. – Three Blue Devils received All-America recognition from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, as announced by the organization Tuesday.

Led by senior back Alyssa Chillano, Duke was one of six schools nationally with three or more selections to the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-America teams. Chillano was selected to the second team, while sophomore midfielder Margaux Paolino and junior forward Rose Tynan earned third team honors. The Blue Devils featured multiple All-America selections for the sixth-straight season.

Chillano was named to the All-America teams for the second consecutive season, wrapping up her collegiate career as one of the top backs in the country. The Phoenixville, Pa., native also garnered first team NFHCA All-South Region and All-ACC accolades this fall after leading a defensive unit that posted seven shutouts and ranked among the best in the country all season in goals against average (1.28). Chillano also contributed largely to the Blue Devils’ attack penalty corners during the season, recording eight goals and four assists.

Paolino started in the midfield for the second straight year en route to being named an All-American for the first time in her career. She led Duke in assists (10) for the second time in as many seasons and notched two goals while serving as the squad’s primary inserter on attack penalty corners. The Villanova, Pa., native also received first team All-South Region and All-ACC honors for her sophomore campaign.

Tynan also earned the first All-America nod of her career following a breakout season as an integral member of the Blue Devils’ front line. She tallied a career-high 39 points on 17 goals and five assists, logging four multiple-goal performances. The junior from Auckland, New Zealand led Duke with six game-winning goals and ranked third in the ACC in goals per game (0.81). Tynan was also a first team All-South Region and second team All-ACC selection this fall.

The Blue Devils made their 16th NCAA Tournament appearance in 2017, reaching the quarterfinal round for the fifth consecutive year. Under the direction of head coach Pam Bustin and her staff, the squad rounded out the season at 17-4.
