INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The V4 clinched a spot in the Petite Final, while the V8 and 2V8 boats each earned C Final berths after day two of the NCAA Championships Saturday morning at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis.
In the first race for the No. 12 Blue Devils, the V4 boat took fifth with a time of 7:48.180 in the second A/B semifinal. The fifth-place finish puts Duke in the Petite Final tomorrow, its first Petite Final in school history.
In the very next race, the Blue Devils placed second (6:49.170) in the first V8 C/D semifinal, just two-tenths of a second behind the Wisconsin Badgers (6:48.981). The second-place finish for the V8 crew puts them in the C Final tomorrow.
In the final race of the morning for Duke, the 2V8 boat took second behind Rutgers with a time of 7:05.205. Like the V8, the second varsity eight squad will compete in the C Final for a chance at 13th overall place.
Duke closes out the NCAA Championships tomorrow, as the 2V8 begins competition for the Blue Devils at 8:48 a.m. in the C Final.
