Rowing Notches Two Wins In First Day Of Texas Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas -- The Duke rowing team picked up a pair of victories in the eights Friday afternoon on the first day of the Texas Invitational at Lady Bird Lake.

Duke's two entries in the varsity eights beat out Kansas State by no less than eight seconds in both races. Duke's second varsity eights squad turned in a time of 7:18.3 in the 2,000 meter course, compared to a 7:26.3 mark by the Wildcats, while Duke's first varsity eights finished in 7:12.0, beating Kansas State by 10 full seconds.

Duke also took part in the varsity fours and the novice eights, falling to Wisconsin in both events.

Day two of the event will begin today, Saturday, March 22 on Lady Bird Lake.
