DURHAM, N.C. – The No. 17 Duke rowing team is set to co-host the inaugural Lake Wheeler Invitational with neighboring school North Carolina this weekend on Lake Wheeler in Raleigh, N.C., starting Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
The Blue Devils last competed in the Big Ten/ACC Dual on April 6 in Charlottesville, Va. Duke took first in two races and finished top-two in eight of ten races.
Duke was set to compete in the two-day Clemson Invite last weekend, however, due to severe storms in the Clemson, S.C., area, the event was cancelled.
Participating schools in the Lake Wheeler Invite include Central Florida, Clemson, Duke, Georgetown, Miami, Michigan State, Navy, North Carolina and Temple.
“We are so excited to race at home in the inaugural Lake Wheeler Invite,” said head coach Megan Cooke Carcagno. “This is a great event to display incredible top collegiate rowing in the Triangle Community, so we couldn’t be prouder to be helping make this happen.”
“Both UNC and Duke are so excited to bring seven other teams to Tobacco Road,” said Cooke Carcagno.
Second day morning action begins Saturday at 7:30 a.m. The semi-final and final races begin at 11:30 a.m.
