CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Duke women’s rowing team competed in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge on Saturday at Lake Monticello. The Blue Devils faced No. 2 Virginia, No. 4 Ohio State and No. 19 Michigan at the regatta.

In Duke’s first race of the day, the novice eight crew was defeated by Ohio State. The Buckeyes finished in 7:05.2, while the Blue Devils had a time of 7:44.4. In the varsity four race, Virginia’s C boat won with a time of 7:49.8, Ohio State was second at 7:56.3 and Duke was third at 8:02.0. The Buckeyes then won the second varsity eight race with a time of 6:46.4, with the Blue Devils finishing second at 7:03.0. Ohio State ended the morning session with a victory in the varsity eight race, winning with a time of 6:42.5. Duke’s varsity eight crew finished in 6:59.4.

Michigan opened the afternoon session with a victory in the novice eight race, winning with a time of 7:20.2. In the varsity four race, Virginia’s C boat won with a time of 7:46.7, Michigan was second at 8:03.2 and Duke was third at 8:20.6. The Wolverines won the second varsity eight race with a time of 7:08.7, with the Blue Devils finishing second at 7:15.6. Michigan wrapped up the afternoon session with a victory in the varsity eight race, rowing to a time of 6:49.1. Duke finished in 6:59.1.

The Blue Devils will return to Charlottesville next Saturday to face Central Florida and No. 17 Michigan State.
