JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – Boosted by an opening bogey-free round of seven-under, 65, Duke University incoming freshman Erica Shepherd turned in a fourth place finish at the Rolex Girls Championship at The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek in Johns Island, S.C.

Over the four days, Shepherd turned in rounds of 65, 77, 70 and 72 to finish with a four-under, 284. Shepherd, who is from Greenwood, Ind., led the field after day one with a seven-birdie output of 65. The second round was washed away so the golfers were forced to play 36 holes of golf Thursday. She closed with an even-par, 72, in the final round Friday.

Alexa Pano placed first with a 14-under, 274, while Lei Ye (278) and Phoebe Brinker (282) rounded out the top three on the leaderboard.

Felling incoming freshman Megan Furtney collected a top 25 placement with rounds of 71, 73, 74 and 76 for a six-over, 294.

Both Furtney and Shepherd are scheduled to next compete in the AJGA Polo Junior Golf Classic June 24-28.
