DURHAM, N.C. – Junior Nathaniel Hernandez and freshman Maddi Pullinger each received ACC Diver of the Week honors, as announced by the league office Monday.

Hernandez was one of eight Blue Devil swimmers and divers selected to represent the ACC at the inaugural ACC/Big Ten Challenge over the weekend in West Lafayette, Ind. In his first showing of the season on the platform, the Southlake, Texas native was fourth overall and second among ACC divers with an award of 362.20. He also surpassed the NCAA Zone Diving qualification standard on the three-meter board, placing 10th (346.75).

Pullinger continued what has been an impressive start to her Blue Devil career, helping the 20th-ranked Duke women finish first out of five teams at the Big Al Invitational in Princeton, N.J. A rookie from Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, she claimed the top spot in the one and three-meter competitions and was second on the platform. All three of her scores were good for Zones standards. Pullinger’s award of 327.35 was a season best and ranked her sixth on the Blue Devils’ all-time top 10. She also moved onto the program’s all-time performance list in platform diving with a score of 233.70.

The Duke swimmers and divers wrap up the fall portion of the season at the Tennessee Invitational Nov. 29-Dec. 2 in Knoxville, Tenn.
