DURHAM, N.C. – After opening the 2018-19 season with two consecutive weekends of competition, the Duke men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were listed in the second TYR Top 25 Dual Meet rankings released by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America Wednesday.
The Blue Devil women jumped two spots to No. 20 in the latest poll after kicking off the year with a 1-1 record against a pair of ACC foes. The women’s team defeated Virginia Tech, 172-123, in the season opener Oct. 13 in Christiansburg, Va., and battled through a tough test against then-11th ranked NC State last Saturday in Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion.
Duke was one of six ACC women’s teams to appear in this week’s national poll, joining the fourth-ranked Wolfpack, No. 7 Virginia, No. 8 Louisville, No. 13 Notre Dame and No. 21 Florida State.
The Blue Devil men received votes in the CSCAA poll for the first time on the season following a pair of close competitions with the Hokies and the Wolfpack.
Duke’s divers are next to compete, traveling to Greenville, N.C., Saturday, Nov. 3 for a meet against East Carolina and Richmond.
