DURHAM, N.C. – With an outstanding inaugural season in the books, the Duke softball program is now setting their sights on year two, starting with the announcement of its 2018 fall schedule.
The Blue Devils’ fall slate consists of eight contests, with six of those coming from the friendly confines of the Duke Softball Stadium. Four of Duke’s contests feature opponents from its inaugural season: Elon, Longwood, East Carolina and NC State.
Head coach Marissa Young’s squad opens with back-to-back home contests, starting with a Sunday, Sept. 23 showdown against Appalachian State. The following weekend will feature a Saturday, Sept. 29 home contest against Virginia Wesleyan before the Blue Devils make a quick trip to Greensboro to face UNCG on Sunday, Sept. 30.
Duke’s second road game of the fall will come on Thursday, Oct. 4 at Elon. The squad will return home for the remaining four contests, beginning with a Tuesday, Oct. 9 battle against NC Central. After battling their crosstown foes, the Blue Devils will take on their lone doubleheader of the fall, battling Longwood and East Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 13. The schedule will wrap up against ACC foe NC State on Saturday, Oct. 20.
