DURHAM, N.C. – Head coach Kerstin Kimel and the Duke women’s lacrosse team welcomed 11 student-athletes to the program ahead of the 2019 campaign. Local product Anne Crabill joins the Blue Devils from Chapel Hill High School.

A midfielder and defender from nearby Chapel Hill, Crabill was a three-time first team all-conference selection at Chapel Hill High School. She registered 134 goals, 46 assists, 131 ground balls and 44 takeaways in four seasons of action and was selected for the Bull City All-Star Game and N.C. National Tournament Team. Crabill served as a team captain her senior year, recording 32 goals, 11 assists, 39 ground balls and 14 takeaways.

Crabill competed with the Carolina Fever club program and excelled in golf and basketball at her school.

Crabill joins 10 other incoming Blue Devils in the freshman class.

Why did you choose Duke?
Anne Crabill:
Duke has the perfect blend of top tier academics and athletics. When I stepped on campus, I felt right at home with the team, coaching staff and atmosphere and knew I wanted to be a Blue Devil.

What is your favorite lacrosse memory?
AC:
After playing two-men down for 10 minutes of the second half, my team rallied to an overtime win to advance in the state tournament during my junior year. In addition, I will always remember the epic playlists and dance parties with the party power on long bus rides.

When did you start playing lacrosse?
AC:
I started playing lacrosse in fifth grade with Rival Lacrosse. I fell in love with the fast-paced nature of the game and had so much fun with my teammates (interesting fact: Madi Dunk and I both played for the Lady Panthers back in the day).

What are your goals for your collegiate career?
AC:
To bring a national championship back to Durham.

Who has had the biggest impact on your life?
AC:
My mom. She has cultivated my love of lacrosse and pushed me to become the best version of myself.

To be a part of the Duke women’s lacrosse program is … an incredible honor and a dream come true.

GoDuke.com will feature a member of the Blue Devils’ freshman class every week this fall.
