DURHAM, N.C.—The trio of former Blue Devils Brendan Fowler, Ned Crotty and Michael Manley were voted to the 2016 Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game. The game is set for July 9 at Titan Stadium at Cal State Fullerton at 7 p.m. (ET) on CBS Sports Network.
It is the second consecutive year Fowler will participate in the event, while Crotty and Manley are making their third appearances overall. It is the fourth time since 2008 at least three former Blue Devils will be represented.
Fowler, a faceoff specialist for the Charlotte Hounds, is one of three faceoff men selected. Despite an early injury, Duke’s all-time faceoff wins leader has a goal and is 53-of-117 at the X with 14 ground balls. He has helped the Hounds to a tie for third place with a 4-3 record.
A top assist man in the league, Crotty has helped the Rattlers inch up the standings after a slow start to the season. He ranks second in the MLL in assists with 14 and is tied for 12th in the league with 20 points overall. Crotty, an All-Star in 2011 and 2013, has 11 of his 20 points in the three-game win streak for the Rattlers.
Manley, a defensive stalwart for the Rattlers, has four goals in four games played and has picked up 11 ground balls. The Rattlers, with Manley back in the lineup, held each of its two previous opponents to fewer than 10 goals. He also was an MLL All-Star in 2013 and 2014.
