DURHAM, N.C. – Former Duke standouts Maddy Acton and Sarah Bullard helped lead the Boston Storm to the United Women’s Lacrosse League’s (UWLX) championship game over the weekend, rounding out the inaugural season for the professional league.

The league’s semifinals and finals were played at Homewood Field in Baltimore.

Acton and Bullard helped the Storm compile a 6-4 ledger in its first season. The squad reached the league final with a 10-3 victory over the Baltimore Ride, but fell to the Long Island Sound, 13-8, in Sunday’s title game.

For the season, Bullard notched four goals and two assists in eight contests. The 2011 Duke graduate provided the assist on the game-winning goal in a July 16 9-8 Storm victory over the Philadelphia Force.

Acton, who graduated from Duke in May, posted three goals and one assist in seven contests.

Bullard was selected by the Storm as the fourth pick in the third round of April’s UWLX draft, while Acton joined the squad following graduation.

Up next, Bullard will join four current Blue Devils at tryouts for the 2016-17 U.S. women’s national team Aug. 5-7 at US Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md. Bullard has been a member of Team USA since graduating from Duke.
