2013: Started all 21 games on close defense … Ranked second on the team with 14 caused turnovers … Picked up 32 ground balls, second among Duke close defenseman … Named ACC Defensive Player of the Week March 12 after helping Duke upend reigning national champion Loyola 9-8 (2/8) … Had a career-high five ground balls and two caused turnovers in holding the Greyhounds to single digits … Registered multiple caused turnovers in four games … Collected multiple ground balls in eight contests and had at least one pickup in all but three games … Notched three ground balls and a caused turnover in the 19-16 win over Virginia (4/12) … Also corralled three ground balls in the NCAA Tournament win over Loyola (5/12) … Had two ground balls and a caused turnover in NCAA Championship win over Syracuse (5/27) … All-ACC Academic Team … ACC Academic Honor Roll.
 
2012: Played in all 20 games and started 19 at close defense ... corralled 30 ground balls and caused six turnovers ... helped anchor a defense that allowed 9.25 goals per game ... netted his first career goal at Loyola (3/10) ... had at least one ground ball in 15 games ... picked up a career-high five ground balls in win over Jacksonville (2/26) ... also had two caused turnovers against the Dolphins ... had four pickups versus Rutgers (2/11) and Notre Dame (2/18) ... scooped up three ground balls in victory at Georgetown (3/23).
 
2011: Played in 19 games and started 18 on close defense ... helped anchor a defense that posted a 9.10 goals against average ... picked up 19 ground balls and registered seven caused turnovers ... had a season-best four ground balls in NCAA Tournament first round win over Delaware (5/14) ... collected three ground balls in first collegiate contest versus Siena (2/12) ... forced a season-best two turnovers in win over Loyola (3/11) ... named to All-ACC Academic Team ... ACC Honor Roll selection.
 
Prep: Three-year letterman for Derek Thomson at Highland Park High School ... helped guide team to three consecutive Texas Division I state titles ... named a US Lacrosse All-America in 2009 and 2010 ... selected all-state defense as a junior and senior ... named to North District DI all-state squad in 2009 and 2010 ... named the Highland Park Defensive Most Valuable Player in 2009 and the team’s overall MVP as a senior ... named the Lacrosse Player of the Year by the Dallas Morning News in 2010 ... team captain as a senior ... voted to the honorable mention All-North District II defense squad in 2007 and 2008 ... also garnered Texas High School Lacrosse honorable mention as a defenseman his sophomore season ... a member of Team Texas club team in 2009 and 2010 ... also a two-year letterwinner in football ... caught 86 passes for 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns his senior season ... was a member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: Son of Chris and Sandra Hipps ... has one older sister, Hutton Hipps ... aunt Joan Sorensen graduated from Duke in 1976 ... grandfather, Claude Hipps played football at the University of Georgia and for the Pittsburgh Steelers ... born on September 27, 1991.
