UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Duke men's and women's fencing teams both went 3-1 at the Penn State Duals while the Duke women's saber squad remained undefeated for the season.

The No. 10 Duke women (8-1) upended North Carolina 19-8, Haverford 20-7 and Drew 27-0, but fell by just three points to No. 9 Penn 15-12. The loss to Penn was Duke's first of the season.

The No. 8 Duke men (7-3) defeated North Carolina 18-9, Haverford 21-6 and Drew 23-4 while falling 17-10 to No. 7 Penn. Duke's three losses this season have all come against ranked teams.

Duke's women's saber squad kept its flawless record intact, posting four wins to improve to 9-0 on the year. Dating back to last season, the sabers - led by two-time NCAA Champion Becca Ward and veteran Sean Cadley - are 31-1. Ward also kept her unblemished record intact, going 6-0, while Cadley posted a 10-2 mark to improve to 24-3. Sophomore Kodia Baye-Cigna bumped her season record to 34-3 with a 9-3 mark on Saturday.

The women's foil squad went 3-1 thanks to a 10-2 showing from senior Dana Rosen and a 9-3 mark from junior Lily Shepard. The epees are now 8-1 with Shepard's 23-4 record leading the group. Only No. 9 Penn has defeated that squad this season.

The women's epees split their four bouts 2-2 with wins over Haverford and Drew. Freshman Sarah Collins continued her hot start to her first season with the Blue Devils, leading the Duke epees with an 8-3 record to improve to 19-4.

The Duke men's foil, saber and epee teams all went 3-1 with their only losses coming at the hands of Penn.

Seniors Tristan Jones and Jonathan Parker, both of which have advanced to the NCAA Championship during their careers, combined for a 20-4 record on Saturday. Jones led the way with an 11-1 mark while Parker, a 2011 All-American, went 9-3. The epees are the Duke men's team's top weapon through two meets, boasting an 8-2 record.

Sophomore Chris Sullivan paced the foils with a 9-3 record and leads his squad with a 23-7 mark on the season. Rod Shayesteh also posted winning marks with a 7-5 record, bumping his season record to 22-8.

Duke's sabers got an 8-4 showing from freshman Eugene Chung and a combined 12-1 day from junior Anthony Lin and freshman Colin Colter. Lin, a two-time NCAA qualifier, went 6-0 while Colter posted a 6-1 mark.
