DURHAM, N.C. – The 13th-ranked Duke women’s golf team will open its 2011-12 spring season on Monday at the 2012 Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge Tournament in Palos Verdes, Calif., from Feb. 13-15.

The par-72 Palos Verdes Golf Club course plays 5,912 yards. The tournament features 15 collegiate teams, including three-time champion Pepperdine as well as two-time winners Arizona State, California and Southern California. Other teams participating in the event are Colorado, Denver, Florida, Florida State, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, California-Davis and Wake Forest.

Brittany Lang is the only Blue Devil to have won the event, shooting a three-round score of 218 in 2006. Duke is seeking its first Northrop Grumman Tournament team championship.

Junior Lindy Duncan leads the Duke lineup after a fall season in which she won the Mason Rudolph Collegiate Championship with a 54-hole total of 212. Following the victory, Duncan moved to No. 1 in the November Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. A native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Duncan posted a 70.44 stroke average to go along with three top 10 finishes in the fall.  She missed the final tournament of the fall campaign due to a foot injury.

Other Blue Devils competing on the weekend will be sophomore Laetitia Beck, junior Stacey Kim, freshman Irene Cho and sophomore Alejandra Cangrejo.  Junior Courtney Ellenbogen will play as an individual.

The tournament will feature 18 holes each day and live scoring will be available at www.golfstat.com.
