INDIANAPOLIS - Duke's Piotr Safronczyk competed alongside some of the top swimmers in the nation - including several U.S. National Team members - Saturday at the Indianapolis Grand Prix, held at the Indiana University Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI. The three-day meet marked the fifth stop on USA Swimming's Grand Prix Series.
Safronczyk took to the water in the men's 100 long course meter breaststroke event, clocking 1:03.80 in the preliminaries to finish 18th and qualify for Saturday evening's finals. In the 'C' final, the Bialystok, Poland native placed 20th overall with a time of 1:04.23.
The 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference champion in the 100 breaststroke, Safronczyk garnered honorable mention All-America honors in the event with a 15th-place finish at the 2012 NCAA Div. I Men's Swimming & Diving Championships.
