DURHAM, N.C. – Reigning National Player of the Year Lindy Duncan will compete in the LPGA Jamie Farr Toledo Classic from Aug. 9-12, which will be held at the 6,428-yard, par 72 Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio.
Duncan, who is the reigning National Player of the Year in Division I women’s golf, will compete in the fourth LPGA Tournament of her career. She last saw action in the 2011 U.S. Women’s Open where she posted rounds of 70, 78, 76 and 76 to finish tied for 59th. Duncan, who is out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., missed the cut in the 2009 U.S. Open and the 2008 Ginn Open.
Coming off one of the best individual seasons in Duke history, Duncan posted a 71.07 stroke average, four victories, 10 top 10 finishes and 10 rounds in the 60s. She was named the Golfweek and NGCA National Player of the Year, Golfstat Cup winner and was a consensus first team All-America. For the third straight year, she was named the ACC Player of the Year.
Duncan enters her final year at Duke in 2012-13 ranking tied for fifth in wins (6), fifth in top 10 finishes (25), tied second in even or under par rounds (55), tied seventh in top five finishes (15) and eighth in top 20 finishes (30).
The Jamie Farr Toledo Classic will be a 72-hole stroke play event with Na Yeon Choi looking to defend her title from 2010. She outlasted I.K. Kim, Song-Hee Kim and Christina Kim in a two-hole, sudden-death playoff two years ago.
