TULSA, Okla. – Sophomore Raphael Hemmeler fell in the semifinal round of the consolation bracket at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s All-American Championships as the Duke men’s tennis team completed play at the event hosted by University of Tulsa.

Hemmeler defeated teammate junior Chris Mengel 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinal round to advance to the semifinals. However, the Switzerland native was unable to advance further in the tournament, dropping a hard fought decision to 60th-ranked Connor Smith of Ohio State, 6-2, 7-5.

Throughout the qualifying and main draw rounds, Hemmeler competed in a total of five matches that were decided in a third set. In addition, the second-year player faced a total of four ranked opponents in his singles matches, finishing with a 2-2 ledger.

The Blue Devils return to action Oct. 12-14 at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston Salem, N.C.
