DURHAM, N.C. - Duke University sophomore Elizabeth Williams earned the Ronald McDonald House Charities Duke Student-Athlete of the Week, after leading the fourth-ranked Blue Devils to victories over 25th-ranked St. John's and Georgia Tech.
Williams averaged 20.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.5 blocks and 1.5 assists on the week. A product of Virginia Beach, Va., hit 17-of-28 field goals in the two games for a 60.7 field goal percentage.
In the Georgia Tech contest, the 6-3 center posted a career-high 25 points to go along with 11 rebounds and six blocked shots. It marked her first double-double of the season and sixth of her career. She hit 10-of-14 field goals and 5-of-5 from the charity stripe.
On Sunday versus St. John's, Williams had a team-high 16 points, seven rebounds, five blocks and two assists as Duke downed the Red Storm, 60-42, at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y.
Williams and the Blue Devils enter exam break with an 8-0 record and will be off until Dec. 21-22 when Duke travels to Los Angeles, Calif., to participate in the Trojan Classic.
