DURHAM, N.C. –  The NSCAA released its Southeast All-Region teams recently with four Blue Devils earning accolades.  On the first team was junior Natasha Anasi, while freshman Cassie Pecht and junior Laura Weinberg were on the second team and junior Kaitlyn Kerr received third team honors.

Anasi, who is a product of Arlington, Texas, started all 23 games for the Blue Devils at the center back position. She was a second team All-ACC and NSCAA All-America selection in 2012. Anasi registered two assists on the season and guided the Blue Devils to six shutouts on the year. She logged a team-high 2,017 minutes.

A product of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Pecht started all 23 matches, while registering six goals, 15 assists and a total of 27 points in her rookie campaign.  In the Duke single-season freshman charts, Pecht’s 15 assists was a new record, while her 27 points tied for second.  A TopDrawerSoccer.com National Freshman of the Year selection, Pecht’s  15 assists was also the second-most in Duke’s overall history.  Pecht, who played both at the forward and midfield slots, scored or assisted in 15 of the Blue Devils’ 23 matches this season.

A native of Boca Raton, Fla., Weinberg earned second team honors after registering 16 goals, 12 assists and a school-record 44 points on the year.  Her 16 goals were tied for a team high and was a career high, while ranking tied for second on Duke’s single-season chart.  Weinberg also notched five game-winning goals and registered eight of her 16 goals against ACC opponents.  Over her career, Weinberg has scored 34 goals and posted 86 points to rank tied for fourth and fifth, respectively, on Duke’s career lists.

Kerr earned all-region accolades for the second straight season, following posting eight goals, seven assists and 23 points on the year.  A midfielder from Bensalem, Pa., Kerr totaled three game-winning goals on the season and tied a school record with her first career hat trick in the NCAA Tournament first round against Loyola (Md.)

Head coach Robbie Church and the Blue Devils registered a 15-6-2 overall record, including knocking off second-seeded Virginia, 3-1, in the NCAA Sweet 16.  Duke dropped a 1-0 decision at top-seeded Penn State in the Elite Eight even though the Blue Devils outshot the Lady Lions, 19-7. It marked the fourth time out of the last six years the Blue Devils advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight.
