DURHAM, N.C. - Duke University junior forward Haley Peters has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District III women's basketball team Thursday. Peters was selected by a vote of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
One of the key contributors on the fifth-ranked Blue Devil squad, Peters has started in all 20 contests on the season, averaging 11.8 points and 7.2 rebounds in 28.0 minutes. The Red Bank, N.J., native owns a team high four double-doubles this year.
Majoring in political science and minoring in English, Peters owns a 3.82 grade-point average at Duke and is a two-time Academic All-ACC honoree. She 6-3 forward has been named to the Dean's List at Duke in each of her five semesters. This is the first time Peters has been named to the All-District III list. Peters is now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be released in late February.
Other members of the District III first team include Marissa Kastanek (N. C. State), Kody Burke (N.C. State), Taber Spani (Tennessee) and Mairi Buchan (Old Dominion).
The Blue Devils will next travel down Tobacco Road to take on 11th-ranked North Carolina on Sunday, Feb. 3 at 1:00 p.m., on ESPNU in Chapel Hill, N.C.
