DURHAM, N.C. – Duke seniors Mason Plumlee and Seth Curry were named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District II Team, the organization announced Tuesday.

Plumlee was named to the NABC All-District II first team, while Curry earned second-team honors. It was the second all-district honors this season for the senior duo, as both appeared on the U.S. Basketball Writers Association All-District III Team. Both Curry and Plumlee were also named All-Americas this season.

The NABC All-District Teams are voted on by member coaches of the NABC. All student-athletes on the all-district teams are eligible for NABC All-America honors.

Plumlee and Curry have led Duke to a 29-5 record, a second-place ACC finish and an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance this season. Those two lead Duke in scoring with Curry averaging 17.3 points per game and Plumlee averaging 17.2 for a combined scoring average of 34.5 points per game which is the highest of any remaining guard-forward tandem in the NCAA Tournament. Both also joined Duke’s 1,000-point club this season and currently rank tied for 35th all-time with 1,353 points.

A native of Warsaw, Ind., Plumlee has posted 17 double-doubles this season while averaging 17.2 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. His .598 field goal percentage ranks sixth in the country, while his 10.0 rebounds rank 15th and 17 double-doubles rank ninth. Plumlee has scored in double figures in 31 of Duke’s 34 games this season and has earned USBWA All-America All-ACC first team and USBWA District III Player of the Year honors.

Curry, who hails from Charlotte, N.C., has sank 87 three-pointers this season while shooting .426 from beyond the arc as Duke’s leading scorer. Despite dealing with a lingering leg injury throughout the season, Curry ranks second in the ACC in scoring and among the top five in three-point shooting percentage and made three-pointers per game. He has scored at least 20 points in 17 games this season, including 26 in Duke’s NCAA Tournament-opening victory over Albany. Curry was named to the Sporting News All-America second team, All-ACC first team and USBWA All-District III team this season.

Plumlee and Curry lead the Blue Devils into their NCAA Sweet 16 matchup against third-seeded Michigan State this Friday, March 29, at 9:45 p.m. at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

About the National Association of Basketball Coaches

Located in Kansas City, Mo., the NABC was founded in 1927 by Forrest “Phog” Allen, the legendary basketball coach at the University of Kansas. Allen, a student of James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, organized coaches into this collective group to serve as Guardians of the Game. The NABC currently has nearly 5,000 members consisting primarily of university and college men’s basketball coaches. All members of the NABC are expected to uphold the core values of being a Guardian of the Game by bringing attention to the positive aspects of the sport of basketball and the role coaches play in the academic and athletic lives of today’s student-athletes. The four core values of being a Guardian of the Game are advocacy, leadership, service and education. Additional information about the NABC, its programs and membership, can be found at www.nabc.org.
