DURHAM, N.C. – The ninth-ranked Duke women’s tennis team will continue Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play this weekend as it travels to Florida to face No. 30 Florida State Friday, April 12 in Tallahassee before heading to Coral Gables to play No. 10 Miami Sunday, April 14. The Blue Devils conclude ACC play with five consecutive road matches, the first of which is Friday against the Seminoles.

Duke enters the weekend with a 13-5 overall record, including a 4-2 ACC mark after falling to Georgia Tech and Clemson last weekend. In those matches, the Blue Devils were limited to just five players for the third time this season, dropping all three of those matches. The squad is led by junior Hanna Mar who was tabbed at No. 23 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) singles rankings. Mar, a native of Burr Ridge, Ill., has recorded a 6-4 singles record in dual matches this season.

In addition to Mar, the Blue Devils are represented by three other players in the ITA poll, with sophomore Ester Goldfeld tabbed at No. 51, junior Marianne Jodoin at No. 99 and senior Mary Clayton listed at No. 110.

On Friday, the Blue Devils will face the Seminoles for the 34th time in program history, with Duke leading the series by a 28-5 margin. Florida State has tallied a 12-5 overall record this season, including a 4-3 mark in conference play. The Seminoles are led by 53rd-ranked Daneika Borthwick, who has recorded a 5-8 singles tally this season while playing in the top spot for the team. In addition to Borthwick, the Seminoles are also represented in the ITA poll by Francesca Sagarelli, who was listed at No. 118.

Duke will return to the courts Sunday in Coral Gables as it takes on No. 10 Miami at 12 p.m. The two programs have met 22 times dating back to the first match in 1987, with the Blue Devils holding the slight edge, 12-10. The Hurricanes own a 15-3 overall record, as well as a conference leading 6-1 ACC mark. Miami boasts three players listed in the top-125 of the latest ITA poll, led by freshman Stephanie Wagner who was tabbed at No. 79. In addition to Wagner, the Hurricanes are also represented by No. 81 Kelsey Laurente and No. 121 Clementina Riobueno.
