DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women’s lacrosse sophomore Kerrin Maurer has been added to the 2013 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, joining teammates Maddy Morrissey and Taylor Virden among this year’s Tewaaraton Award hopefuls.

Maurer, an attacker from Setauket, N.Y., leads the ninth-ranked Blue Devils in points (46) and assists (21) through 12 games this spring and is on pace to set career highs in goals, assists, points, ground balls and draw controls. Her 21 assists rank her second in the Atlantic Coast Conference heading into this week’s action, while her 46 points place her fourth in the league. Maurer has posted three hat tricks to go with six multi-assist games on the season and was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week on Feb. 12 after matching a program single-season record with five assists in a season-opening win over Virginia Tech.

For her career, Maurer has totaled 50 goals, 45 assists, 14 ground balls, six draw controls and seven caused turnovers. One of the 21 players in program history to accumulate 90 or more points, she needs just five more to reach the 100-point mark and currently ranks 13th on Duke’s all-time chart for career assists.

The Tewaaraton Award Watch List includes the top players across all three divisions of men’s and women’s collegiate lacrosse and highlights the early contenders for the 2013 Tewaaraton Award. Duke has had at least two players named to the list each season since the award’s inception in 2001 with Katie Chrest earning the prestigious honor following the 2005 campaign.

No. 9 Duke faces fourth-ranked Northwestern Friday, Apr. 12 at 8 p.m. EST from Lakeside Field in Evanston, Ill.
