DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke Athletics finished in 12th place in the final 2012-13 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings, released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics today.
Overall, Duke tallied 969.60 points and ranked third among private institutions behind Stanford (1st) and Notre Dame (9th). Four current Atlantic Coast Conference schools were ranked among the top 20 – North Carolina (8th), Florida State, (11th), Duke (12th) and Virginia (20th). The Blue Devils have now placed among the top 20 in the Directors’ Cup Standings for 10 consecutive years.
The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's national finish in up to 20 sports -- 10 women’s and 10 men’s.
