DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke seniors Brinson Paolini, Adam Sumrall and Julian Suri were named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars as announced by the GCAA Wednesday afternoon. Paolini and Suri were named All-America Scholars for the second straight year, while Sumrall received the honor for the first time in his career.

A total of 152 Division I players received the academic accolade. To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team’s competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

Duke has now had three All-America Scholars in each of the past two seasons and eight selections overall since 2009.

Paolini, a CoSIDA At-Large Academic All-America and Byron Nelson Award winner in 2013, finished in the top 20 of all 11 stroke-play event with six top 10s and four top 5 finishes. He closed the campaign with a 71.8 stroke average and 16 under-par rounds, including eight rounds in the 60s. Paolini closed out his Duke career second in the record books in stroke average (72.17), rounds in the 60s (28), under-par rounds (48), even-par or better rounds (69), top 5 finishes (12) and top 20 finishes (28). He is also tied for first in even-par rounds with 21, while ranking among the all-time leaders in top 10 finishes (t-3rd – 18), tournaments played (t-7th – 45) and rounds (t-7th – 133).

Suri, a PING All-East Region and ACC All-Academic team selection, posted a 73.3 stroke average with seven top 20 finishes en route to his fourth straight all-region team selection. The St. Augustine, Fla., native was second on the team with 12 under-par rounds and five top 10 finishes. He earned co-medalist honors at the 2012 Rod Myers Invitational for his third career win. Suri concluded his career among the all-time leaders in stroke average (4th – 72.78), rounds in the 60s (t-3rd – 21), under-par rounds (3rd – 47), even-par or better rounds (4th – 57), wins (t-6th – 3), top 5 finishes (t-4th – 10), top 10 finishes (t-3rd – 18), top 20 finishes (t-4th – 27), tournaments played (t-7th – 45) and rounds (t-7th – 133).

Sumrall, a PING All-East Region and ACC All-Academic team selection, posted a strong senior campaign with a 72.5 stroke average and three top 5 finishes, including a victory at The Trojan. A South Bend, Ind., native, Sumrall recorded 11 under-par rounds and four even-par efforts on the year. He finished in the top 20 seven times, including a fifth place finish with an eight-under 208 at the ACC Championship.

As a team, the Blue Devils won five tournament titles, including the ACC Championship at Old North State Club. Duke swept the Triangle events winning the Tar Heel Intercollegiate, Rod Myers Invitational and the Wolfpack Spring Open. ACC Coach of the Year, Jamie Green also guided the Blue Devils to the team championships at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate.
