KINGSTON SPRINGS, TENN. -- The Duke men's golf team posted rounds of 291 and 293 Friday on the opening day of the DICK'S Sporting Good Collegiate Cup Challenge at the Golf Club of Tennessee. Sophomore Motin Yeung paced the Blue Devils with a three-under 68 in the opening round, while junior Turner Southey-Gordon posted a two-under 69 in the second round.

Texas A&M grabbed the 36-hole lead at 11-under after firing a 13-under 271 in the afternoon session. Georgia is second at 10-under with a 558, one shot behind the Aggies. Vanderbilt (-3, 565), Clemson (-2, 566) and Tennessee (+2, 570) round out the top five followed by Virginia (+3, 571), Mississippi State (+11, 579), Duke (+16, 584), Wake Forest (+20, 588) and Boston College (+43, 611)

Ben Crancer (Texas A&M) blistered the course for an eight-under 63 in the second round and owns the 36-hole lead at 11-under. Denny McCarthy (Virginia) and first round leader Hunter Stewart (Vanderbilt) are five shots back at six-under.

Southey-Gordon and Yeung are both tied for 21st after recording three-over 145s. Southey-Gordon played the first 16 holes of the tournament at even-par before struggling to close with a bogey, quad-bogey finish for a five-over 76 in round one. The Toronto, Ontario, native recovered to post a two-under 69 in the afternoon. He birdied all four par 5s in the second round and finished the day six-under on the par 5s.

Yeung recorded four birdies on the par 5s and added two more birdies en route to a three-under 68 in the opening round of the Collegiate Challenge Cup. After opening round two with a birdie on No. 1, he suffered four bogeys before the turn to slip to three-over. The Beijing, China native added another birdie on the par 5 11th hole but could not maintain the momentum and suffered four bogeys over the final five holes for a six-over 77.

Senior Yaroslav Merkulov is tied for 28th with a four-over 146. He got off to a slow start with a pair of double-bogeys over his first seven holes before playing even-par golf the rest of the way en route to a four-over 75 in the first round. Merkulov began round two with four straight pars before carding an eagle on the par 5 fifth hole. He moved to three-under with a birdie on No. 12 but struggled to close with three bogeys over the final four holes of play.

Max Greyserman, a freshman from New Jersey, registered rounds of 72-77 and is tied for 35th overall. He collected five birdies in the opening round but also had six bogeys. Greyserman recorded four more birdies in the second round but had his round derailed by three double-bogeys.

Junior Michael Ricaurte is tied for 42nd with a 78-76=154. He recorded three birdies on the day but also carded a double-bogey and two triple-bogeys.

Duke returns to action Saturday for the final round of stroke play at the Collegiate Cup Challenge. Sunday's action will consist of match play pairings between ACC and SEC opponents.
