KINGSTON SPRINGS, TENN. -- Senior Yaroslav Merkulov recorded a 2up win over Spencer Ciesla Sunday as Duke dropped a 4-1 match play tilt to Vanderbilt on the final day of the DICK'S Sporting Goods Collegiate Challenge Cup at the Golf Club of Tennessee. The SEC won four of the five match play matches over its ACC foes.

Merkulov opened the day with a birdie on the par 3 10th hole to go 1up. The Penfield, N.Y., native suffered a pair of bogeys over the next eight holes, while Ciesla added a birdie to grab a 1-up advantage. Merkulov recovered to card wins on No. 18, No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 to go 3up with six holes remaining. Ciesla claimed wins on No. 4 and No. 7 before Merkulov grabbed a par win on No. 9 for a 2up victory.

Motin Yeung dropped a 2&1 decision to Hunter Stewart, while Turner Southey-Gordon fell by the same margin to Charlie Ewing. Southey-Gordon played one-under golf on the day but could not overcome three straight birdies by Ewing on No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6. Yeung grabbed an early lead in his match before slipping to 3down with five holes remaining. He grabbed wins on No. 5 and added a birdie on the par 5 seventh hole to move within one hole before Stewart closed out the match with a par on No. 8.

Junior Michael Ricaurte dropped a 2up decision to Matthias Schwab. He started well with a birdie on No. 10 and maintained the lead throughout the opening nine holes of play. The COlumbus, Ohio, native dropped the first two holes of the second nine and another on No. 7 to fall back to 2down with two holes remaining. He responded with a birdie on par 3 eighth hole before Schwab closed him out with a par win on No. 9

Max Greyserman, a freshman from Short Hills, N.J., maintained an early lead in his match before falling 4&2 to Ben Fogler. He opened with a birdie on No. 10 and retained a 1up lead through seven holes.  Greyserman dropped three straight holes to fall to 2down and never got any closer in his first career collegiate match play competition.

Tennessee topped Wake Forest, 3-2, while Mississippi State defeated Boston College by the same margin. Georgia rolled over Clemson 5-0. Virginia claimed the ACC's lone victory with a 3-2 win over Texas A&M.

Duke returns to action Oct. 12-13 with the Rod Myers Invitational at the Duke University Golf Club. The Blue Devils have claimed medalist honors at their home event in each of the past two seasons.
