MENDOZA, Argentina – Former Blue Devil Stefanie Fee and the U.S. women’s national field hockey team advanced to the semifinals of the 2013 Pan American Cup Tuesday after finishing pool play with an undefeated mark.
Team USA topped Uruguay by a 6-1 score Tuesday to wrap up Pool B play with a 3-0 ledger. The squad also defeated Chile, 5-1, Sunday, Sept. 22 and shut out Mexico, 6-0, Saturday, Sept. 21.
Fee and the U.S. women will compete in the Pan American Cup semifinals Thursday, Sept. 26. The tournament’s gold and bronze medal matches are slated for Saturday, Sept. 28.
The winner of the 2013 Pan American Cup will receive automatic qualification to the 2014 World Cup, which will be held in The Hague, Netherlands. The U.S. came in sixth at the 2006 World Cup but missed qualifying in 2010.
