DURHAM, N.C. – The 13th-ranked Blue Devils kick off ACC play Friday night as they make the short trip to Chapel Hill, N.C., to face top-ranked North Carolina at 6 p.m. at Francis E. Henry Stadium. The squad will then return home Sunday, Sept. 29 to host non-conference foe Longwood in a 1 p.m. contest.

Blazing Off to Strong Start Between the Pipes Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper and Durham, N.C., product Lauren Blazing has guided the Blue Devils to a 6-2 mark, including shutouts against Indiana (Aug. 30) Old Dominion (Sept. 15) and Radford (Sept. 22) … Her .791 save percentage ranks second among all ACC goalkeepers and eighth nationally … She also ranks third among conference goalkeepers in goals against average with a 1.12 clip … Blazing tallied a career-high nine saves in a loss to Northwestern Sept. 20.
Heimbach Anchors Back Line Senior defender Paula Heimbach continues to be one of the Blue Devils’ most dependable backs in 2013 … An All-ACC honoree and Longstreth/NFHCA third team All-America selection last fall, Heimbach was tabbed to the Preseason All-ACC squad last month by a vote of the league’s seven head coaches … Heimbach and the Duke defense own three shutouts on the year and currently allow just 1.25 goals per game to rank second in the ACC.
Sister Connection Sophomore midfielder Aileen Johnson will see a familiar face on the opposing sideline Friday evening in Chapel Hill … Her younger sister, Shannon, is a freshman goalkeeper for the Tar Heels … The Johnsons hail from Oceanport, N.J.
