In doubles action, the 31st-ranked Duke tandem of Ester Goldfeld and Annie Mulholland notched a tight, 8-7 (8-6) win over 25th-ranked of Zsofi Susanyi and Klara Fabikova of California.  Goldfeld/Mulholland will next face Pepperdine’s 43rd-ranked Lorraine Guillermo and Alejandra Granillo on Wednesday.

Beatrice Capra, who was competing for the first time this season, cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over 68th-ranked Granillo of Pepperdine in the first round of qualifying.  Capra, who is out of Ellicott City, Md., then downed Stanford’s 73rd ranked Elen Tsay, 6-0, 6-2.

Following her doubles victory in the morning, Goldfeld took the court for singles and totaled a 7-6 (4), 6-2 win over 89th-ranked Allison Falkin of Illinois in the first round before falling, 1-6, 2-6, to North Carolina’s Hayley Carter.
