The Opening Tip • Duke returns home to face to Florida Atlantic Friday in a 7:00 pm tilt at Cameron Indoor Stadium. • Duke is ranked No. 4 in both the AP and USA Today Coaches’ Polls. The Blue Devils are 55-12 all-time when ranked No. 4 in the AP Poll. • The Blue Devils enter the contest against Florida Atlantic with an NCAA-best 102 consecutive non-conference home wins. Duke’s last home loss to a non-conference opponent was to a Mike Jarvis-led St. John’s team on Feb. 26, 2000. • Duke has lost back-to-back games just one time since the start of the 2009-10 season. The Blue Devils are 19-1 following a loss in that span. • Jabari Parker has scored 20 or more points in each of his first two games as a Blue Devil. He is looking to become the first freshman under Coach K to top the 20-point mark in his first three games.
The Last Time Out • Duke fell to No. 5 Kansas, 94-83, in a back-and-forth battle that featured 19 lead changes and 13 ties. • Jabari Parker guided Duke’s offense with 27 points on 9-of-18 shooting. The Chicago native knocked down four first half three-point field goals and tallied 19 points in the opening 20 minutes. • Sophomore Amile Jefferson added 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting, while Rasheed Sulaimon (13), Rodney Hood (11) and Quinn Cook (10) also scored in double figures. • Poor free throw shooting plagued the Blue Devils in the loss, as Duke went just 16-of-28 (.571) from the charity stripe. In contrast, Kansas finished 27-of-35 (.771) from the free throw line. • The loss was the Blue Devils’ first in the Champions Classic and snapped a string of 22 straight regular-season neutral-site wins for Duke.
By The Numbers • Duke, ranked No. 4 in the AP Preseason Poll, has been ranked in the top 10 of the AP Poll for 115 consecutive weeks. The last time Duke was not ranked in the top 10 was Nov. 19, 2007. • The Blue Devils are playing their 215th straight game as a top-10 team in the AP poll. Duke is 177-36 (.831) in that span. • Duke leads the ACC and is tied for 14th nationally in scoring at 97.0 points per game. The Blue Devils scored 111 points in the season opener versus Davidson and followed with 83 points against No. 5 Kansas. • Duke has won an NCAA-best 102 consecutive non-conference home games. The Blue Devils’ last home loss to a non-conference team came on Feb. 20, 2000 versus St. John’s. • Duke is shooting 60.7 percent (68-of-112) from the field, ranked as the second-highest field goal percentage in the nation. Four Blue Devils are shooting higher than 60.0 percent from the floor (min. 10 attempts) on the year, including sophomore forward Amile Jefferson, who has hit 11-of-13 field goals for an ACC-leading .846 clip. • The Blue Devils are shooting 51.3 percent (20-of-39) from three-point range this season with four players shooting better than 50.0 percent (minimum three attempts). Jabari Parker and Rodney Hood are shooting 70.0 percent or better. • Redshirt sophomore Rodney Hood and freshman Jabari Parker have combined for 41.0 points, 13.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game through Duke’s first two contests. Those two combine to shoot .630 (29-of-46) from the field and .714 (10-of-14) from three-point range. • Jabari Parker is the nation’s leading freshman scorer, averaging a team-leading 24.5 points per game. His 49 points through Duke’s first two games are the most by a Duke freshman in the team’s first two games and the seventh-most in the first two games of the season by any Duke player. • Junior point guard Quinn Cook boasts a 12:1 assist-to-turnover ratio to rank second in the nation in that category. Cook logged a 2.4:1 assist-to-turnover ratio as a sophomore to rank second in the ACC. • Sophomore guard Rasheed Sulaimon is the ACC’s second leading scorer off the bench, averaging 16.5 points per game. Sulaimon has come off the bench in each of Duke’s first two games but is averaging 26.5 minutes per contest.
