Syracuse 91, Duke 89 [OT]

Team Notes:
•    Syracuse snapped Duke’s five-game win streak, dropping the Blue Devils to 17-5 overall and 6-3 in ACC play. The 91-89 win was undefeated Syracuse’s smallest margin of victory this season.
•    Duke played its first overtime game this season and first since a 70-65 win against Virginia Tech on Feb. 25, 2012. The overtime loss was Duke’s first since falling, 78-74, to Miami on Feb. 3, 2012. Duke is 66-55 all-time in overtime and 30-22 in overtime under head coach Mike Krzyzewski.
•    Rasheed Sulaimon tied the game with three-pointers twice in the final minute of regulation, knotting the score at 75-75 with 48 seconds left and then at 78-78 at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. Sulaimon also hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 22 seconds remaining in a 69-64 win against Virginia on Jan. 13.
•    Duke weathered early foul trouble to Andre Dawkins, Amile Jefferson and Jabari Parker, who each picked up their fourth fouls with more than nine minutes remaining in the game. Rodney Hood was also charged with his fourth with 2:02 remaining in the game. Duke played the entire overtime period without Parker and Jefferson.
•    Duke hit a season-high 15 three-pointers on a season-high 36 attempts. Both the made three-pointers and three-point attempts tied for the ninth most in a single game in Duke history. The 15 made treys marked Duke’s most since hitting 15 against Bradley on Dec. 8, 2010, while the 36 attempts were the most since Duke attempted 36 at North Carolina n Feb. 8, 2012.
•    Duke became only the second team all season to top 80 points against Syracuse and only the third to score over 70. Syracuse entered the game holding opponents to 57.8 points per game.
•    Amile Jefferson and Jabari Parker combined for 11 of Duke’s 18 offensive rebounds. Duke totaled 22 second-chance points, marking the fourth straight game – and fifth time this season – that Duke has gotten at least 20 points on second-chance opportunities.
•    The game drew 35,446 fans to the Carrier Dome, the largest on-campus crowd in Syracuse basketball history.
•    Syracuse held a 38-35 lead at halftime, marking the first time all season Duke trailed at the half.
•    Duke used the starting lineup of Quinn Cook, Rodney Hood, Amile Jefferson, Jabari Parker and Tyler Thornton for the third time this season. That quintet was Duke’s starting five for the first two games this season.

Player Notes:

Quinn Cook
•    Dished out five assists without committing a turnover in just under 40 minutes of play.
•    Hit a three-pointer in the 18th straight game. Cook’s 18-game streak is the second longest on the team, trailing only the 19-game tear by Rodney Hood.

Andre Dawkins
•    Scored in double figures for the 11th time this season and 42nd time in his career. Dawkins has scored in double figures in eight of his past 13 games.
•    Was Duke’s leading scorer in overtime, scoring eight of the team’s 11 points. Dawkins hit both three-point attempts and a layup that followed his own offensive rebound in the extra period.
•    Duke suffered its first loss of the season when Dawkins scores in double figures. The Blue Devils are 10-1 on the year and 39-3 all-time when Dawkins scores 10 or more points.
•    Hit 4-of-9 three-pointers for the game to move into 10th place on Duke’s all-time made three-pointers list with 218, passing Daniel Ewing who had 217 from 2002-05. Dawkins ranks tied for fourth on Duke’s all-time three-point percentage list with a .416 (219-of-524) clip.
•    Improved his ACC-leading three-point percentage to .472 (51-of-108).  

Rodney Hood
•    Scored in double figures for the 20th time in 22 games and extended a streak of 10 straight double-figure scoring games. Hood scored 14 points on 5-of-11 field goals and 3-of-7 three-pointers.
•    Hit a three-pointer in the 19th straight game, the longest active streak on the team. Hood finished 3-of-7 from three-point range and is shooting .447 (46-of-103) from three-point range this season.
•    Played the final 7:02 of the game – including the entire overtime period – with four fouls. Hood scored

Amile Jefferson
•    Scored in double figures for the second straight game, scoring 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting. The double-digit scoring performance was his sixth of the season.
•    Grabbed at least six rebounds for the 14th straight game, a streak in which he leads Duke with 129 total rebounds, 49 offensive rebounds and 8.6 rebounds per game.
•    Grabbed six offensive rebounds that led to 10 points, including eight on Jefferson’s own putbacks.
•    Dished out a career-high five assists, four of which set up three-pointers.

Jabari Parker
•    Scored 15 points for his 20th double-figure scoring game of the year. Parker hit 6-of-16 field goal attempts in 26 minutes of action before fouling out with 1:42 remaining in regulation.
•    Grabbed nine rebounds, including five offensive boards, to lead Duke in rebounding for the team-leading 14th time.

Rasheed Sulaimon
•    Tied the game twice in the final minute of regulation, sinking a three-pointer that tied the score at 75-75 with 48 seconds remaining and another trey that tied the score at 78-78 as the buzzer sounded and sent the game into overtime.
•    Scored a team-high 16 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including 4-of-7 from three-point range.
•    Scored 11 of his 16 points in the second half, sinking 3-of-4 field goals and 3-of-3 three-pointers.
•    Matched a season high with six assists while committing just one turnover. Also matched a season high with four made three-pointers.

Tyler Thornton
•    With Duke trailing 66-59 – Syracuse’s largest lead of the night – hit three straight three-pointers to close the deficit to two points at 70-68. The three three-pointers were a season high.
