DURHAM, N.C. – Duke senior wide receiver Jamison Crowder was picked to the USA Today Preseason All-America Team and three Blue Devils appeared on the Preseason All-ACC team, the publication announced.
Crowder, who has also earned Preseason All-America recognition from Sporting News and Athlon Sports and was an All-America second team selection as a junior, was picked as one of two wide receivers on USA Today’s preseason squad. He enters his senior campaign as one of the nation’s top wide and most versatile players, coming off a 2013 season in which he amassed 108 receptions for 1,360 yards and eight touchdowns and returned 25 punts for 401 yards and two touchdowns.
Crowder was also picked on the USA Today Preseason All-ACC squad alongside redshirt senior linebacker Kelby Brown and redshirt junior safety Jeremy Cash. Brown and Cash ranked second and fourth in the ACC in tackles per game, respectively, and combined for 20.5 tackles for loss, six interceptions, six pass breakups, 10 quarterback hurries, four forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
In USA Today’s Preseason Top 25, the Blue Devils came in at No. 17, which is the second highest ranking of any ACC squad behind only preseason No. 1 Florida State.
Redshirt senior offensive guard Laken Tomlinson also received recognition as a projected second round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
The Blue Devils bring back eight returning starters on offense and six on defense from last season’s ACC Coastal Division Champion squad, which went 10-4 and played in the Dr Pepper ACC Championship Game and the Chick-fil-A Bowl. Duke opens the 2014 campaign against Elon on Aug. 30 at Wallace Wade Stadium. To order tickets, call (919) 681-BLUE or visit www.GoDuke.com/footballtix.
