FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Duke senior Molly Lehman clocked her lifetime-best time and improved upon the No. 2 all-time mark at Duke with a 4:17.20 in tonight’s prelims of the 1500m at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the University of Arkansas.

Lehman was third in her heat and eighth overall to move on to Saturday afternoon’s final round along with 11 other runners.

In other Blue Devil action, senior multi-event specialist Tyler Clarke wrapped up his Duke career and day two of the decathlon, where he ended in 18th place with a tally of 7,285 points. That was just 41 points off his lifetime best point total set at the ACC Outdoor Championships this season.

After going through five events Wednesday, Clarke resumed action this afternoon and started off with a lifetime-best 110m hurdles time of 14.80. That placed him ninth in that event and garnered 874 points. Next, Clarke took 20th in the discus and earned 551 points with a toss of 112-9. Third, he tied for ninth in the pole vault with a clearance of 15-1, to grab 790 points there. In his fourth event, Clarke was 21st in the javelin with a throw of 142-5, good for 492 points, and in his fifth event of the day and 10th overall, the Oregon native posted a 1500m time of 4:34.10 to finish ninth and score 718 points.

Duke track & field has two athletes still in action at McDonnell Field, with senior Patricia Loughlin to race in the finals of the steeplechase tomorrow night, June 12, at 7:20 p.m. EST, and Lehman to step to the line for the 1500m finals on Saturday, June 13, at 2:09 p.m. EST. Keep up with the action with Flash Results, or tune in to CBS College Sports for selected TV coverage of the Friday and Saturday events.
