Bob Pascal lettered three seasons at running back for Duke from 1953-55, helping lead the Blue Devils to a 22-6-3 record, three ACC championships and a 34-7 victory over Nebraska in the 1955 Orange Bowl. Duke posted a perfect 12-0 mark in ACC play during his career and finished each season ranked in at least one major national poll.
Playing under Hall of Fame head coach Bill Murray, Pascal rushed 307 times for 1,523 yards and 19 touchdowns. He led Duke in both rushing and scoring in 1954 (561 yards, 60 points) and 1955 (750 yards, 48 points). A two-time first-team all-ACC selection (1954, 1955), he became the program’s first multi-year first-team honoree and earned first-team All-America honors in 1955.
Pascal was one of the most productive backs of his era, recording multiple seasons with 500-plus rushing yards and eight-plus rushing touchdowns. In Duke’s Orange Bowl victory over Nebraska, he rushed for a game-high 91 yards and scored the game’s first touchdown. He also totaled a career-high 157 rushing yards against Wake Forest in 1955 and scored three touchdowns in a 1954 win over North Carolina.
Following his collegiate career, Pascal was selected in the third round of the 1956 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Colts.
A dedicated supporter of Duke Athletics, Pascal provided the lead gift for the construction of the Pascal Field House, an 80,000-square-foot facility at the Brooks Practice Facility.
