Duke held North Carolina State to .150 (73-39-227) hitting, outdug the Wolfpack 87-82 and outblocked N.C. State 12-8.
The Blue Devils gained the momentum in game three as they battled back from a 14-11 deficit to register a 16-14 win in game three. Duke scored the games' last five points, taking advantage of a Jill Sonne kill, a Wolfpack attack error, two consecutive Dorrett Burwell kills, another N.C. State attack error and a Burwell kill to win 16-14.
Duke placed four players in double digit kills. Jill Sonne came close to recording a triple-double as she registered 18 kills, 11 digs and nine blocks. Sonne finished with a .350 hitting percentage. Dorrette Burwell led the Blue Devils with 19 kills (.302 hitting percentage and 10 digs, Dominique Philipp registered 15 kills and 16 digs, Jami Ediger finished with 10 kills, eight blocks and 14 digs, Ashley Harris totaled eight kills and 16 digs and Josie Weymann had 12 digs.
Even though Duke finished with 10 service errors, the Blue Devils overcame them with several runs. With the score tied at 10-10, Duke scored the last five points to win the game 15-10 and match.
North Carolina State was led by Charece Williams' 22 kills. Tara Greene finished with 12 kills and 15 digs while Alison Kreagor finished with 10 kills and17 digs.
Duke hosts North Carolina for its final home match Sunday at 2 p.m. in Cameron Stadium. The match marks the final home game for seniors Jami Ediger, Chrissie Lukasiewicz and Dominique Philipp.
