DURHAM, N.C. (November 7) -- The Duke women's soccer team (12-9-0 overall, 2-5-0 AC) has received an at-large bid to the 1999 NCAA Women's College Cup, as announced by the NCAA on Sunday night. The Blue Devils will host Elon College, champions of the Big South Conference, in first-round action on Wednesday at Duke's Koskinen Stadium. The match begins at 7 p.m.
Duke was one of six ACC schools to receive a bid to the 48-team field, the most of any conference in the country. This year's invite also marks the Blue Devils' seventh appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Elon Fightin' Christians earn their first tournament bid in their first year of eligibility after moving up to Division I.
The winner of Wednesday's Duke-Elon match will head to Williamsburg, Va. to play William & Mary in second-round action this coming weekend. The Tribe earned a first-round bye in the bracket.
