Sell, Johnson, and Granson Advance At Southeast Regionals

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Senior Kathy Sell, sophomore Katie Granson, and
freshman Amanda Johnson all advanced to the quarterfinals Saturday in the
2000 ITA Southeast Regional Qualifying Championship in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Sell defeated Christina Ladyman of Memphis 6-2, 6-1 and will face North Carolina's Kate Pinchbeck on Sunday. Granson knocked off Amy Trefethen of Kentucky 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 and will battle Julie Rotondi of North Carolina on Sunday and Johnson knocked off Leigh Bradwell of Kentucky 6-2, 7-5. She will take on Sarah Witten of Kentucky Sunday.
Sophomore Prim Siripipat fell in the second round to Brooke Skeen of Kentucky 3-6, 1-6.
In doubles action, Duke's duo of Johnson/Megan Miller advanced to the semifinals with wins over Brajambasic/Kidd of Coastal Carolina (8-6) and Rairos/Niebling of North Carolina (8-5). The will battle Janet Bergman/Aimee Smith of Wake Forest for a birth in the finals. Duke's other doubles team left fell in the second round to Bunn/Pinchbeck of North Carolina (7-9).
All matches are being played in the Indoor Tennis Center at Wake Forest.
