Post-Match Quotes
Duke Head Coach Jamie Ashworth
"I thought we played real well. The hardest thing for us going into the match was we hadn't played a competitive match in almost
three weeks. It was good to have a match that we can be loose with some things and get away with some things. Winthrop
played well, we are more talented than they are 1-8. In that situation we made some mistakes that we need improve on, but we
could afford to make those mistakes. It was a good match for us to start. That is one down and five more to go is the way we
are looking at it."
Duke No. 1 Singles Player Megan Miller on playing Arkansas'Chin Bee Khoo "I am actually looking forward to playing her, because it is somebody that I have been watching all year. You sort of keep track of people you can possibly come across. I have known her for a long time and anytime you come up to a challenge this is what you play for. That is why we are out here, to get challenged. Every round is preparing you for the next round."
Winthrop Head Coach Cid Carvalho
"I would like to say we came out here with the intention to win the match so we are disappointed right now because we didn't
win. But that is because of Duke as they played a very good match. I am very proud of my players. They played hard every
point. We had a tough draw to draw Duke in the first round. They are one of the best teams in the nation and we just came out a
little short."
